Este texto aborda la visión que se tiene de Cuba en los Estados Unidos de América, desde los mismos inicios de la república estadounidense. Se va analizando la construcción de metáforas referidas a Cuba, haciendo énfasis en el período de la guerra de 1895-1898, en la época neocolonial y en el período de la Revolución en el poder. Refleja objetivamente la visión que de Cuba se tenía en Estados Unidos de América, y los mitos construidos en aquel país sobre el nuestro, con el objetivo de justificar la dominación imperial sobre la Isla.
