En esta publicación se presentan en español y portugués los inventarios del léxico disponible de los alumnos del nivel preuniversitario de zonas limítrofes de España y Portugal. Estas zonas son: Andalucía y Extremadura, en la frontera española; y Algarve y Alentejo, en la frontera portuguesa. Los datos empíricos que aquí se ofrecen, sin duda, suponen valiosos materiales y abren nuevos caminos a diversas disciplinas, como la psicolingüística, la sociolingüística y, muy especialmente, la lingüística aplicada y la didáctica de las lenguas española y portuguesa.

This empirical study investigates the existence of a hypothetical regional standard for Spanish in Catalonia based on a corpus made up of transcripts of some 70 hours of recorded interview material. The determining factors in the development of linguistic norms are analyzed in terms of the frequency of usage and the formal and informal acceptability of some 80 linguistic phenomena. The qualitative and quantitative analyses are supplemented by a study of the metalinguistic information and the linguistic attitudes identifiable in the interviews.
