En este libro, y a diferencia de la tesis sostenida por Ferran Soldevila y Pierre Vilar, se interpreta y se documenta que el sentido político que define centralmente, por parte catalana, los choques de 1640 y 1705 es esencialmente el mismo: tratar de asegurar la integridad y la continuidad del régimen de autogobierno propio en el marco de un modelo de estado de tipo constitucionalista.

El relator de esta historia ha sido testigo presencial de hechos ocurridos en Argentina durante los últimos setenta y seis años. Los mismos involucran a dos personas que, en distintos momentos, han ocupado u ocupan un lugar central en la vida política del país. Se habla de una "crónica novelada" en la que aparecen hechos históricos y licencias literarias. Se deja al criterio del lector decidir entre ambas alternativas en cada situación.
