El libro reúne una cuidadosa selección de documentos, ordenanzas, cartas y todo tipo de relaciones administrativas que nos ilustran no solamente de las dotes organizativas del conquistador, sino del sutil y agudo sentido de la estrategia política que Hernán Cortés puso al servicio de la consolidación del poder y el dominio españoles en los primeros años de la Colonia.
