Navidad, Litueche, La Estrella, Marchigüe, Pichilemu y Paredones son las comunas que integran la provincia Cardenal Caro, en la costa de la región de O’Higgins. Constituyen la zona más apartada y menos desarrollada de la región, debido al centralismo que ha practicado históricamente el gobierno. La creación de la provincia, en 1979, propició, aunque de manera dispar, el tan anhelado progreso de estas comunidades.
