Los ensayos que conforman este volumen, han sido organizados a partir de cuatro ejes problemáticos. El primero aborda a América Latina desde su propia realidad; el segundo resalta la búsqueda de un conocimiento propio; el tercero se encarga de la transmisión de dichos conocimientos y el último invita al lector a reflexionar acerca de su propia capacidad creativa cotidiana. Un análisis profundo acerca de la realidad de nuestro continente.

El conde Federico Tomás de Adlercreutz nació en Finlandia, en el seno de una antigua familia de la nobleza escandinava. Tuvo una educación esmerada y llegó a ser edecán del rey y diplomático sobresaliente. Por problemas financieros se vio obligado a dejar Suecia, su patria, a finales de 1819. Viajó a Londres, donde se enroló en la Legión Irlandesa y una vez en América se integró al ejército Libertador. Adlercreutz permaneció en América cerca de tres décadas, entre 1820 y 1849, y no hay duda que con su presencia se fortalecieron las relaciones de Suecia con las repúblicas...
