Segundo volumen de Documentos cortesianos que presenta una edición anotada del juicio de residencia de Hernán Cortés, entre 1526 y 1545. El valor bibliográfico de este juicio radica en que presenta por primera vez un seguimiento cronológico de la documentación sobre el orden del régimen administrativo de bienes, remisiones y aprovisionamientos en los primeros años de la Colonia, información que se sirvió en mucho de las Cartas de relación.
