No contempla los impuestos de las haciendas locales y municipales. Propone una periodización basada en la geografía. Just a few times before in Mexico had been analyzed the relation between the church, national identity and state like in this work. The author offers an essay with the relation between politics, religious toughs and the struggles to establish a new politic system between the Independence and the Reform. This book also contains a study of the presence of religion in the political life and daily life and how it influences in the structure of the national identity.

The essays in this volume evaluate progress made in the implementation of the peace agreements in Guatemala and signal some of the key challenges for future political and institutional reform.
