Este trabajo analiza el origen geográfico de los principales ingresos tributarios del gobierno general o federal a lo largo de dos siglos. No contempla los impuestos de las haciendas locales y municipales. Propone una periodización basada en la geografía. El primer periodo estudiado se centra en el eje Caja de México-Caja de Veracruz y corresponde al último tramo de la época colonial.
